Lead Guide

In collaboration with our team, the Lead Guide will co-lead a multi-age class of learners. They will be responsible for facilitating the development of a studio culture of curiosity, collaboration, hard work, warmth, and joy. They will:

  • Co-Create a learning environment of exploration, collaboration and respect.

  • Co-Plan and facilitate interdisciplinary session long projects

  • Facilitate and lead whole group inquiry-based discussions.

  • Lead small group lessons in math, reading, and writing.

  • Guide learners to have an active role in studio governance.

  • Empower learners to direct their own learning, strive for excellence, and reflect.

  • Support learners in creating meaningful exhibitions of their work.

  • Plan and oversee outdoor play, weekly park outings, and session field trips

  • Communicate/meet with parents, as necessary.

The guide will collaborate with Co-guide to plan daily/weekly/yearly schedule, evaluate and refine the existing curriculum, and design and experiment with new projects, tools, and approaches. The guide will also maintain the classroom environment and document and track learner progress (student projects, achievements, and everyday activity).

Qualifications:

  • A deep curiosity about life and love of learning

  • Good observational and communication skills

  • Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure

  • Is both warm-hearted and tough-minded

  • Passionate about learner-centered, whole child education

  • Excellent planning and organizational skills

  • Customer service and user-centered orientation with the ability to give and receive feedback, meet needs, and get a positive response

  • Previous experience in an independent school or project-based learning environment is a plus. Has proven excellence in guiding children in or out of a school environment.

  • Loves to experiment, evaluate, and improve on everything they do.

Starting salary for a Lead Guide is $75,000 annually. The position also offers opportunities for professional development, growth, and advancement.
