Spark Studio Guide

Crystal is of Guyanese heritage and was born and raised in Vienna, VA. Her passion for working with children began at an early age while helping at her mother’s in-home daycare. These experiences inspired her to pursue a bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Virginia Commonwealth University.

After college, Crystal spent four years teaching kindergarten in Fairfax County before earning her master’s degree in Curriculum & Instruction. Throughout her teaching career, she has also enjoyed tutoring and mentoring children. She is passionate about celebrating each child’s individuality and authenticity while building meaningful, lasting connections.

Throughout teaching, Crystal understood that children thrive in environments that model warmth, intentional routines, and clear expectations. She values developmentally & culturally responsive learning practices that encourage curiosity, creativity, and independence across settings & subjects. Crystal’s love of learning led her to TVS where she is excited to grow alongside a community that brings out the best in everyone. She is incredibly grateful to contribute to a place that so strongly reflects what education can be.

Outside of school, Crystal enjoys spending time with family & dogs, cooking new recipes, practicing yoga, and traveling near & far.
