Spark Studio is a place where our youngest learners (ages 4–6) come together to explore the world around them. In Spark, play is positioned as a subject just as important as reading and math.

A focus on playful and project-based learning results in increased confidence, emotional intelligence, social skills, and independence.

The average elementary school offers 25 minutes of recess per day. Because we honor the way children are naturally wired to learn, Spark learners spend 50% of their week in unstructured outdoor play, rain or shine — developing physical strength, social-emotional skills, and the ability to collaborate.

Learner-Driven Goal Setting

Our youngest learners set their own goals with help breaking them into manageable steps. When children define their learning goals, they become more invested and learn more effectively.

Mixed-Age Learning

Life is mixed age, and so are we. Learners thrive in multi-age communities where leadership opportunities abound. All children help each other follow schedules, manage time, and teach new concepts.

Time Outdoors, Rain or Shine

Rain, mud, cold — none of it stops us. Spark learners spend half their week outside, in all weather conditions, building physical strength, social-emotional skills, and the kind of resilience that only comes from real, unstructured play. No screens. No worksheets. Just children being children.

Wonder Lab

Learners spend a part of every day following a "what if" and see where it goes: they build, tinker, sort, take apart, and try the same idea several ways, learning early that a good question can have more than one answer.

How We Measure Progress

How do we measure progress in Spark Studio?

In Spark Studio, we measure success by watching a child light up with curiosity, learn to work alongside others, and begin to trust their own voice. These are the first threads of our Profile of a Learner — six traits we nurture from the very beginning.
