  • Elizabeth, Bridget, Lauren, Aaryn, served on the faculty of the Washington International School Summer Institute for Teachers.

  • Kay and Bridget attended the inaugural Empower Conference in Washington DC.

  • Abby & Chloe visited The Forrest School in Atlanta, Georgia for some self-directed learning inspiration.

  • Aaryn & Bridget submitted a proposal, were accepted, and presented a workshop on playtime for middle schoolers at the Full Scale Education Annual Conference in New Orleans, LA!

  • 3 Middle Schoolers (Kalani, John, Colin) featured on the What School Could Be Podcast to discuss AI school policy

  • 5 Middle Schoolers (Maggie, Caroline, Gemma, Tabitha, Charlotte) submitted proposals, were accepted, and presented at an International Alternative Education Organization Conference‍ ‍

  • TVS is included in the Tomorrow Schools publication by Harvard Graduate School of Education students who visited TVS and concluded it’s one of the most innovative schools in the country.

  • Aaryn & Bridget presented a workshop on playtime for middle schoolers at the Deeper Learning Conference in San Diego, CA (for the second year in a row!) and attended the conference alongside Caroline, Noel, Abby, & Chloe.

  • Lauren Coyle completed a year-long leadership cohort through the Institute for Playful Learning.

  • The Village School earned distinction as a Canopy School

  • We hosted

  • Caroline & Lizzy completed a Learner-Centered Education course through Arizona State University.

  • Elizabeth served on the Knowledgeworks Lead for Learning Steering Committee

  • Lenore Skenazy, founder of Let Grow and advocate for children’s independence, visited TVS.

  • Noel led Adventure Studio through the Democracy in Dialogue experience through the Smithsonian Institution.

  • TVS hosted 6 live thought leadership virtual sessions extending our influence and connecting with new families and community partners.

  • We trademarked a word - humentic - to describe the human-centered focus of our learning model.

  • We’re cheering on our 8 graduates as they embark on their new adventures at Arlington Tech, Madeira, Butler Montessori, Lake Braddock, Meridian, Alexandria City, and Annandale!
